7 outfit inspiration from ‘Baby’ in the movie ‘Dirty Dancing’

This quarantine summer, if you feel like dressing up at home, here is a little outfit inspiration from Baby from the movie 'Dirty Dancing' to help you spice up your summer outfits game.

  • Plain knotted shirt and high waisted Bermuda shorts

This look while Baby and Jhonny were flirting around to the song ‘Love is strange’ by Abigail Breslin and Colt Prattes is a classic.
This piece can be a staple in our summer wardrobe. The light-colored shirt and the shorts can be found in anyone’s wardrobe. The tied-up shirt makes the very boring look kinda sexy. The high waisted Bermuda shorts paired with the knotted shirt gives it a very 80’s look. We can replace these shorts with a pair of biker shorts and add a fanny pack to the waist to make it more 2020.

  • Eyelet and floral summer dress

This is the perfect summer dress. Every girl has to have a summer dress that she grabs for a sunny summer brunch. This is that dress. It has a beautiful eyelet detail on the collar which gives it a very elegant look and the skirt has floral detail making the dress summery.

  • Red onesie with boyfriend shorts

If this does not scream the ‘summertime beach house’ outfit, I don’t know what does. This beautiful, red swimsuit paired with the boyfriend shorts is perfect for a hot summer morning at the beach. The swimsuit is versatile and can be reused for multiple outfits. The low cut at the back makes this very simple outfit sexier. Tying a belt around the waist makes the whole look come together and adding a statement belt can add to the look.

  • Seersucker

Seersucker is a thin, puckered, all-cotton fabric, commonly striped or chequered, used to make clothing for spring and summer wear. It is THE MOST comfortable thing to slip on, on a sweaty summer afternoon. Although it might sound like the most unflattering thing to wear, this crop and multi-colored seersucker are doing quite good for Baby.

  • White jeans

Even though white jeans aren’t the first thing we grab out of our closet, don’t be afraid to whip it out once a while. Pairing it up with an oversized dad-shirt, like the one Baby is wearing is actually a safe option and can never go wrong.

White on white may seem like a nightmare to many. But Baby shows that it doesn’t always have to be a mistake. We love the square neck, the embroidery detail and the puffed sleeve of the top. It elevates the tee from being boring to not boring.

  • Stripes

Yet again Baby teaches us that stripes can save our day anytime. Stripes are a basic piece in our wardrobe and should be. Whenever you're confused about pairing a bottom with a certain pattern on it, you can pair it with stripes anytime and you can trust them to not look silly.

  • The final dance dress

Remember the iconic first dance to ‘I’ve had the time of my life’? Remember the final lift that made us all want to enroll in a salsa class? Remember the more iconic ‘Nobody puts Baby in the corner’? But most importantly remember this beautiful coral pink A-line dress. We love this color and the intrinsic work with sequins on the waist. It is a perfect summertime date night dress with a deep neck and frills. And of course, it’s perfect for some grooving on the dance floor. Also can we please appreciate these heels that complete the whole look?

So these are some of the outfit inspirations from the movie 'Dirty dancing' that we can still wear this summer. Enjoy!
